Peer Mediation

The Peer Mediation programme is used in Braidside to teach children the principles and techniques of conflict resolution so that they can solve their own minor disputes.

The children are trained, under the supervision of a teacher and classroom assistant, to use a systematic mediation process to resolve disputes. The training begins in Primary 6 and usually extends over a 6-week period ending with a full-day workshop experience. Children are presented with certificates on completing their training. Once in Primary 7, they then use their mediation skills to help other children solve minor programmes.

Peer Mediation is a long established programme in Braidside and the children thoroughly enjoy their training workshops and the opportunity to be a peer mediator.
